Position: Research Associate (Postdoctoral)

Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD in biological sciences or related field. Background in cellular and molecular biology and animal research is highly desirable. Experience with cell and tissue culture is necessary. Excellent spoken and written English communication skills and experience with Excel and Word is required.
Job Duties: The Gibson laboratory in the Department of Surgery is looking for a highly motivated and self-directed individual who will provide expertise at a comprehensive and independent level. The position requires the ability to design research methodologies and perform the research with critical thinking and the ability to identify problems and barriers. Specific skill sets include RNA, DNA extraction and amplification, PCR, Western Blot, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, protocol and assay development. This individual will work closely with students and other researchers in different departments on a variety of exciting and challenging projects on the cutting edge of burn and wound healing research. Development and use of a porcine burn animal model will be a significant part of this position. This position will also assist in the development of grant applications and the preparation and presentation of research results. In addition, this individual may be required to perform lab management duties including supervision of personnel.
